Das Marijuana Policy Project hat eine aktuelle Liste der 50 einflussreichsten US Cannabiskonsumenten erstellt. Unter den TOP 10 befinden sich Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, der Sportler Michael Phelps, Bill Gates und Georg Clooney. Die Liste zeigt sehr deutlich, dass das Image von Cannabis als “Verliererdroge”, die nur schlechtes mit sich bringt, nur mit einer – freundlich ausgedrückt – sehr verzerrten Wahrnehmung aufrecht erhalten werden kann. Die Öffentlichkeit sieht gerne nur die Konsumenten, die Probleme bekommen haben und machen meist monokausal den Cannabiskonsum dafür verantwortlich, während die erfolgreichen Gegenbeispiele ignoriert werden.
